現代神学（アメリカ）の関係図式 その１
（大島かおり訳）『世俗都市の宗教 −−ポストモダン神学へ向かって』（新教出版社、1986）の著者としてして知られるハーバードの神学者ハービー・コックス（Harvey Gallagher Cox, Jr. ,1929−）の学問の師匠がつぎのふたり。
ジェームズ・Ｌ・アダムズ（James Luther Adams，1901−1994）とＰ．ティリッヒ（Paul Johannes Tillich，1886−1965）。
コックスは、Ｍ・Ｌ・キング（Martin Luther King, Jr.，1929−1968）と公民権運動で共闘したことで知られるが、神学的には両者はＰ．ティリッヒの影響を強く受けているという点。
キングが、牧師になるきっかけを作ったのが、モアハウス大学の学長ベンジャミン・メイズ（Benjamin Mays，1894−1984）。
ちなみにメイズがガンジー（Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi，1869−1984）と初めて会見した（深く言葉を交わした）アフリカ系アメリカ人。
最近色々なことが繋がり始めている。
